song: Wonder Why
artist: Sarah Vaughan
album: After Hours (1961)
writers: Music by Nicholas “Slug” Brodszky / Lyrics by Sammy Cahn (1951)

electric jazz guitar: Mundell Lowe
double bass: George Duvivier

This is a full transcription of the guitar and bass parts on this wonderful recording of the 1950s classic Wonder Why. The song originally appeared on the score for the musical film, Rich, Young and Pretty (1951), where it was sung twice, in a solo version and in a duet version. It was subsequently nominated for a Grammy award for Best Song in 1952. On this Jazz version, Sarah Vaughan sings wonderfully in her nearly operatic style on this lush Jazz ballad. Mundell Lowe’s guitar arrangement is packed with great chord voicings, and George Duvivier swings and sways slowly in this low tempo like few no other. Enjoy!
