This is a transcription of “Call of the Canyon”, which calmingly closes the Squint album. This tune is rarely played but not new to the Jazz scene – check out Frank Sinatra’s recording. This is a country ballad in with plenty of harmonic ventures into neighbouring scales and harmonisations. The slow ballad tempo anchored by Jorge Roeder’s bass playing allows for a free timing that Julian Lage exploits to its most explosive effect. Enjoy!
