(I cannot find the credits for the musicians playing the other instruments: violins, cello, the bass, the flutes, the piano solo in the background. These are probably musicians from Claus Ogerman’s band – back then it was uncommon to register which band members played on a session or give them individual credit.)
This is a note-for-note transcription, of the listed instruments, of the original 1967 recording of “Zingaro”. This composition was originally an instrumental tune titled “Zingaro”; and when Chico Buarque adopted the tune a year later, for his third solo album (1968), he wrote the lyrics and retitled it “Retrato em Branco e Preto”. Both titles have stuck around and are used depending on whether or not the lyrics are featured. Enjoy!
