This is a complete transcription of “Little Girl Blue” from Johnny Smith’s great solo-guitar album. This transcription has the voices notated separately to bring out the polyphonic intention. While he recorded this song at least three times, including with the trio, the core guitar arrangement remained surprisingly similar throughout, which makes this transcription surprisingly applicable to the other versions, too. Numerous artists have recorded the song, and the order of its four section tend to vary a great deal; this arrangement is very similar to the recording by Ella Fitzgerald – the intro/outro sections, I believe, might even be inspired by this recording as well.
