This is a fine jazz ballad and a soothing way to close the Modern Lore album. Though the tune seems fairly simple, it involves some interesting aspects of unpredictability: The stability of the 'lullabyish' 6/4 time signature is often disrupted by shorter time signatures; also, the stability of the key of A-flat major is disrupted by Julian Lage's improvisation that ventures into altered territory of outside playing. All this makes this innocently-looking tune a really complex and impressive piece of contemporary jazz.
