This is a transcription of the guitar and the bass parts on “Ocala”. Harmonically, this is an incredibly fun chord progression that takes surprising steps in and out of F# Major through its neighboring keys. The groove and instrumentation is reminiscent of Americana ballads from the 1950s, like “Save the Last Dance for Me”, and it might be no coincidence that the tune is named after a relatively small city in Florida. All this is of course infused with the Jazzy approach to harmony and Julian Lage’s melodic improvisation. Enjoy!
